Boonville was the home of Kemper Military Academy.
Kemper Military Academy was situated in Boonville. Many famous Americans went to this military college. Will Rogers was one such person who attended Kemper. The college fell on hard times a couple of years ago and had to close. The building is now owned by Boonville city council. The YMCA uses part of the building.

Once I had a tour of the building and learnt about the students and teachers who had passed through its doors. It was an inspiring story about the methods of educating students.

I like the architecture of the building and I have photographed it on many occasions.

This is one of my favorite views of Kemper

On my visit to Kemper I was told a story about several cadets, their portable radio and the school commander.

I hope I have got the story correct. I am sure if I have'nt someone will send me a 'howler' and put the record correct.

A group of cadets wanted to listen to music on their radio. Unfortunately, not everyone in their dormitory did. They played it too loud.Several other cadets requested that the radio be turned down. They would not reduce volumne's.The Commanding officer got a firm grip on the situation and confiscated the radio. He took it to the lake and threw it in the water. That put an end to the arguing. For a time the fish enjoyed the music, at least until the battery ran down.
